Hashtag formatter

Type phrases or paste a caption full of tags. Get back tidy hashtags without duplicates or stray symbols, in CamelCase so a screen reader says #SmallBusinessSaturday as words, not a jumble.

One tag per line or between commas. Spaces inside a tag mark the word breaks.

Why CamelCase, and what gets cleaned

A screen reader meets #smallbusinesssaturday as one long unknown word and often spells it out or garbles it. Write #SmallBusinessSaturday and it can read three words. Capital letters cost nothing on any platform and the tag still matches the lowercase version, because hashtags ignore case.

The formatter joins the words of each tag, drops anything a hashtag cannot hold (spaces, punctuation, emoji), and keeps letters from any alphabet. A word you typed with capitals inside it, like iPhone or NASA, is left as you wrote it. Duplicates are found ignoring capitals, and in CamelCase the copy that shows the most word breaks is kept, so #nofilter and #NoFilter become one #NoFilter. It cannot guess where the words are in a long lowercase run, so it flags those for you to add spaces.

Limits as of October 2026: Instagram allows 5 hashtags per post or reel, and Threads uses one topic tag per post. X, Bluesky, LinkedIn and Mastodon set no number, but a few tags read better than a wall.

    Questions

Does CamelCase change which posts my hashtag finds?

No. Hashtags are matched without regard to capitals, so #BookTok and #booktok lead to the same place. CamelCase only changes how the tag looks and how it is read aloud.

Why was a tag of only numbers flagged?

Most platforms do not turn a hashtag of only digits, like #2026, into a link. Add a word, such as #Goals2026.

Can I add more hashtags in the first comment on Instagram?

Don't count on it. Moving tags into the first comment used to be a common trick, but Instagram said its December 2025 change was meant to curb hashtag misuse, so plan on 5 tags per post in total.
